3D Animation

Commerciasl exercise, Fall 2023 ,VIZA 613: 3D Modeling and Animation

In my 2023 Fall semester at Texas A&M, I took a course called VIZA 613: 3D Animation and Modeling. The main project of the course was to find an existing commercial of our choosing, and to emulate that using animation. For my project, I chose a Sour Patch Kids commercial, since it shows proper elements as to how a commercial should operate. For instance, a well balanced advertisement should have a limited amount of shots. Since commercials are traditionally shorter than films, each shot has to fill in big gaps for the story. The commercial had a total amount of eight shots.  I modeled and shaded both the Sour Patch Kid and tollbooth, along with tollbooth accessories, such as the stripped stopper and yellow traffic posts. I modeled the sour patch kid in Autodesk Maya 3D, and the tollbooth set in Blender. I then shaded Sour Patch Kid in Adobe Substance Painter 3D. For the tollbooth set, I gave the meshes materials from the quixel marketplace.  The course taught me how to use an efficient pipeline for modeling, shading, rigging, and then rendering.
